OK - starts when you hit Play.
What I noticed was that the device I downloaded the movie to reflected correctly Microsoft Store - My Movies that I had 14 days.
However, when I logged in with my credentials to the Microsoft Store from another PC OR my Xbox One, it shows that the movie has Expired when it really had not. That is what had me dislocated.
When I logged in on the PC that I purchase/downloaded the pic to, it reflect correctly that the expiration is March 1 - 14 days after buy. I guess one time you download the movie to a specific device, all other devices would reflect that the pic is expired since you tin't download information technology to them.,

Aye correct on everything you stated, but subsequently downloading the picture show to my Surface Pro iii at time of buy instead of streaming information technology, it appears that you practice accept to have cyberspace connection.
Reason I say this is that terminal night I tried to access the motion-picture show on my Surface Pro 3, In order to view how much time I yet had left.
Hence I needed to go to the Microsoft Shop>My Movies and when I did that, since I had no internet connection, I received an mistake message that I can't access the Microsoft Shop in Windows 10 on my Surface without an net connexion. If you can't open the store, you can admission the downloaded movie and tin can't play it.
Unless you know another style to access the movie and featherbed accessing the Microsoft Store, please let me know because internet access has to be available to open up the MS Store.

You indicted that the 48 hour clock starts from the time you press play. -It does betoken that on the site equally you signal.
HOWEVER -
Sadly I clicked Play on the terminal day of expiration. I started to picket it and it played fine, stopped information technology and was going to finish watching it later, since I should have had 48 hours after selecting Play. When I went back to sentinel it again, prior to the 48 hour window to lookout it later on hitting Play, it told me it had expired.

To add together on to this, if you cull to download the rental it's just playable on the device you lot downloaded it to. If y'all chose to stream your rental, you can watch that movie on other devices as long as y'all're notwithstanding inside the rental/playback window(s).
What you lot experienced with the expiration inside the 48 hours is by design as both the 14 day and the 48 60 minutes licenses apply and they're difficult dates. I experienced the same thing you did a long time agone, unfortunately.
