Ques. How good is Pondicherry University for MSc in Mathematics?

● Top Answer By Ajita Pathak on 28 Sept 21

Ans. I have a few friends from the Mathematics department of Pondicherry University. Here is what they had to say about the department.  The Mathematics block is known as the Ramanujan School of Mathematical Sciences.  The school aims to impart quality academics to students in different sections of Mathematics and Statistics, through different post-graduate study programs in Mathematics and Statistics.  These two departments of the school have an extremely qualified faculty, alongside a well-established infrastructure with the inclusion of decent laboratories. The institute also has excellent computing facilities.  The research activity that's being carried out as of now is in various emerging disciplines. Students, in addition, also secure placements in several MNCs.  This is everything that you should be aware of about Pondicherry University. Hope this helps answer your question.Read more

Ques. Should I go for M.Math program at ISI Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Ritwik Patnayak on 16 Sept 21

Ans. M.Math is quite thorough in different ways, it is best not to end up opting for it without vital information. As a brief interpretation, you really do not require programming skills to further opt for the M.Math course.  A very intensive knowledge of linear algebra, real analysis, and basic abstract algebra is required prior to joining the M.Math course. Despite that, the course is very challenging.  The academic background does not necessarily affect the course you are about to take up. There are students who arrive from an engineering background.  It is best to go through the coursework of Mathematics and decide whether or not you are inclined towards it or not.  M.Math students usually secure placements at a variety of companies, but achieving that howsoever is extremely difficult. Thus, choose only if you are confident.Read more

Ques. Should I take NIT Surat for mechanical engineering or BITS Goa for an MSc in maths?

● Top Answer By Riya Siyar on 24 Aug 21

Ans. There are different viewpoints for the same question. It primarily depends upon what is best for you, and whether or not the course you are willing to take interests you.  One of my friends encountered a similar problem likewise, and addressing the same, here are some points you might want to consider before diving into any conclusion, A dual degree in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry is claimed as a part of Science, while others are considered in the case of Engineering. You will learn the theories of science instead of the application of technology. In Mathematics, you are supposed to learn the series of higher-order and their respective application. While, in Mechanical Engineering, you will learn more deeply about Engines, Boilers, Automobiles, Refrigerator Systems, and much more. A single degree, like Mechanical Engineering, CSE, EE, Civil Engineering, or Chemical Engineering, can be more advantageous than dual degrees.  If you opt for a dual degree in Mathematics, you have a higher probability of becoming a mathematician or a professor. But, in case you pursue Mechanical Engineering from NIT Surat, then you bear higher chances of securing a placement offer at top-tier MNCs. Your choice should always remain ahead of most others. The one piece of advice is that in NIT Surat, you supposedly cannot change your degree from M.Sc to B.Tech following the 1st year and vice versa.  You should research the same for BITS Goa and find whether or not the rule is similarly applicable in the institute. This is the basic difference you can find between both institutes.Read more

Ques. Which is better ICE at Nit Trichy or bits Goa msc mathematics?

● Top Answer By Anita Chakroborty on 24 Aug 21

Ans. I have friends pursuing courses you mentioned above at either institute. Based on the discussion I have with them, here is what should be best for you, The institutes can be considered quite equivalent to one another, but BITS Goa has an upper hand.  M.Sc at BITS Goa can be specialized following the first year, during which you will be allocated a B.E course depending upon your CGPA.  With a 6 CGPA, you can get Mechanical Engineering, which is quite an easy job. In contrast, it is better than ICE. However, if your scores are high enough then you might get a seat in CSE.  By the end of 5 years, you will be receiving a B.E and an M.Sc degree, which is nonetheless a smarter choice.  However, the fees at BITS Goa are quite a lot.Read more

Ques. Which is better, BITS Hyderabad for an MSc. in maths or Vasavi College of Engineering for a CSE?

● Top Answer By Sreeja Prasad on 20 Aug 21

Ans. I have friends from both Vasavi College of Engineering and BITS Hyderabad, so I think I can give you some information regarding placements at these institutes.  Doing CSE from Vasavi will be a good option. You will have good placement opportunities if you have a considerable GPA and good coding and communication skills. There are approx 120 students in each branch every year and there are about 70 good packages offered that range from 7 to 22 LPA. Only three branches, i.e. CSE, ECE, and IT get these elite packages. More than 80% of the students from these branches get placed. If you are in the top 20% of the class among these branches then there is a good chance of getting decent offers. According to 2021 placements, the highest and lowest CTC offered to the students was 21 LPA and 3.5 LPA.  Having an M.Sc degree in Maths from BITS may not create many options at the campus placements in comparison to Vasavi. But you will get a Brand tag. You will also have an amazing campus life in comparison with Vasavi. There are not many restrictions at BITS. One of the important things to consider for BITS is the hefty fee structure.  It's the choice that is yours. If you want a good campus life and a BITS tag, holistic diverse experience and are okay with the fee structure then you can choose BITS. And if you are okay with normal campus life, strict regulations and low fee courses, and good academics then Vasavi would be a good option.Read more
